Save your work and find it again
Saving sounds simple, but losing a file right before it’s due is one of the most common virtual-school stumbles. Here’s the reliable way to save and then find your work.
Read It
Step by step.
Finish (or pause) your work in the app you’re using — a document, a slide, a drawing.
Use the app’s Save command. Look for a menu called File, or a small disk or download icon near the top.
Give the file a clear name that includes the class and the assignment, so future-you can find it.
Notice where it is being saved — a Downloads folder, a Documents folder, or your school drive. Remember that spot.
Check: reopen the same folder and confirm your file is there with the name you gave it.
See It
Watch each step happen on a realistic (but fake) screen — where the Save menu is and what a saved file looks like afterward.
Practice It
Try it yourself in a safe practice screen. Nothing real is saved or changed — it’s just for building the habit.
The full watch-along demonstration and safe click-through practice for this skill — and every other digital-school skill — live in the interactive Learning Library, where you can pick your exact device.
